Webers Mustard Buffalo Foods Has It

Webers MustardWebers Mustard, a little history for a big small business. It all started in 1922 at the Buffalo Broadway Market. The Heintz and Weber Company Inc. began as a partnership and stayed that way until 1926. At that time, John Heintz sold out to his partner Joseph C Weber no relationship to H. J. Heintz of Pittsburg. This Buffalo NY Company remains a family-owned business. Weber Mustard has also become a household word in the Buffalo, NY region.

In the 1930s, the Heintz & Weber Co. moved to a facility in South Buffalo, NY, on Louisiana Street. Webers Mustard and other Weber’s products are manufactured and supplied to over 300 mom and pop shops and markets. From the 1930s until today, Webers Mustard has grown in notoriety and appeal. Yes, this Buffalo NY Co. supplied more than 80 products, including 10 varieties of pickles, along with olives, sauerkraut, and even prune butter. But his baby product, Webers Mustard, became the foundation for Weber’s pride and quality. Weber also created the slogan and musical jingle, “A Pickle in the Middle and Webers on Top,” which remains on all 16oz. Jars to this day. Since its inception, Weber’s hot Mustard is a secret family recipe, and until 1980, every jar was individually packed and hand-labeled.

Mr. Weber passed away in 1984 and left control of his Buffalo NY based company to his granddaughters, Suzanne and Laura Weimer. Suzanne and her husband Steven Desmond took control of the day-to-day operations in 1997. The majority owner, Laura Weimer Perino, had difficulties handling the day-to-day operations. This is due to her career being in western Ohio but remained on the board. They did, however, make good on the promise to keep Webers Mustard a quality product in Buffalo, NY.

Suzanne and Steven Desmond became 100% owners of Heintz & Weber in 2007, the company locally owned and operated in Buffalo, NY.
